SE USA (KARA)

Mission
The mission of the Korean American Restaurant Association, SE USA (KARA) is to support Korean American Restaurant members through Education and Promotion.

Goal
In June 2018, the Southeastern United States Korean American Restaurant Association and the Southeastern United States Korean Food Globalization Association merged under the name of KARA. Since the merger, KARA has already attracted over 1,000 members from the states of Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina, and its numbers continue to grow.

KARA mainly serves to provide two types of services to both Korean and Non-Korean food services as a part of the Southeastern chapter of the Korean government’s “Korean Food Promotion Institute (KFPI)” in the United States. The first of these services is to provide a unified, powerful voice for Korean American owned food and beverage (F&B) operations –an industry spanning over 1,000 businesses, worth in excess of 1 billion dollars, and providing more than 10,000 jobs. KARA also serves to present several programs designed to properly train and educate local restaurant owners in running their businesses. As such, KARA would like your support in 2018 to ensure the continued success of our non-profit 501-C3 (509-A2) organization which has supported the rapid growth of the local economy for the last decade. This non-profit label means donors are able to deduct any contributions they make to us under IRC Section 170. We hope to continue to work towards our mission into the foreseeable future and beyond.

미주 동남부 지역의 (조지아, 알라바마, 테네시, 플로리다, 사우스 캐롤라이나, 노스 캐롤라이나) 한인 외식업계의 성장에 발맞춰  미동남부 한식세계화 협의회와 미동남부 외식업 협의회가 합병하여 식음료 사업에 대한 지원,교육, 홍보, 정보, 권익을 위해 새롭게  통합된 단체로(가칭) 미 동남부 한인 외식업 협회 (Korean American Restaurant Association, SE USA)로 출범하게 되었으며 501-C3 (509-A2) 비영리 단체로 등록되어, 후원금이나 회비를 세금 공제 혜택을 받을 수 있습니다.  현재 약 1,000개 넘는 한인 운영 외식업소를 바탕으로 외식업 관련 서비스 제공업체, 식자재 도매 업체 등도 다수 포함하는 단체로 이끌어 나가려고 합니다.  또한 인적 자원 통합으로 시너지 효과를 기대할 수 있으며 영향력을 확대해 회원 상호 간의 친목과 권익신장에도 대변할 것입니다.

현재 애틀랜타에 사무실을 개설하고 3명의 직원들과 6명의 임원들이 힘을 합하여

최근 변화되어진 식음료계의 관련법안, 식자재, 운영, 마케팅, 요리기술, 고객의 성향에 따라가기 위해  활발한 웹사이트 및 SNS 활용으로 한인 외식업자들 간의 정보교환을 신속하게 하고자 힘쓰겠습니다.

2018년에는 한국정부의 한식 진흥원 (KFPI), 한국 농수산 식품유통공사(aT), 농림축산식품부와 협력하여 미 동남부 지역의 한국식당 영문 맛지도 제작, 미국인 대상 한식 요리 경연대회, 주류사회 한식 홍보행사를 진행하게 되었습니다.  각 행사에 참여와 광고를 원하시는분들은 협회 사무실로 연락을 주시면 자세히 알려드리겠으며, 한인 여러분들의 애정어린 관심과 참여로 본협회가 제기능을 잘 수행할 수 있도록 힘을 모아 주시기를 간곡히 부탁드립니다.
